Dr. Edward Yosowitz is one of two founding members of the Women’s Specialists of Houston, at Texas Children’s Hospital. He was born and raised in Vincennes, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University for both his medical and undergraduate degrees. He went on to complete his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine, in 1971. After residency, Dr. Yosowitz served as a Major in the Air Force from 1971 to 1977.
Dr. Yosowitz currently holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, and is currently a member of numerous professional organizations. He has been a Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology for over 35 years, practicing in several hospitals within the Texas Medical Center.
In addition to being featured in published articles as, “Doctors Who Go The Extra Mile” in Medical Economics, and “Super Docs” in H Texas magazine, he was “The Featured Physician” in the Texas Medical Journal. He has been a recipient for the “Top Doc” award for both Houston Magazine and Texas Monthly, for 5 years running. He maintains a large established Gynecology practice and devotes a portion of his time mentoring young doctors, as well as undergraduate pre-med students.
His special interests include all sports, but his passion is golf. He recently began writing children’s books and music. “Punky’s Adventure”, his first children’s book, was recently published, with all proceeds from the sales donated to charity.
Dr. Yosowitz is active in the Jewish Community, and in 2000 he was the recipient of the prestigious Maimonides Israeli Bond Award. He and Brenda, his wife of over 40 years, have four daughters and 10 grandchildren. Dr. Yosowitz thoroughly enjoys his life’s work and has no plans to retire in the near future. He hopes to continue taking care of patients at The Women’s Specialists of Houston at Texas Children’s Hospital for many years to come.
